Starr Dancers

Starr Dancers

The Preparatory dance program of the Berkshire Ballet Theatre. Dancers study classical ballet, jazz, modern, musical theater, and lyrical and attend class a minimum of three days per week.

Students progress through a thoughtfully designed curriculum that provides comprehensive dance training.  In our preparatory levels 2 & 3, great emphasis is placed on proper posture and body alignment as well as developing the core strength needed for correct and safe training as they begin lessons from the classical (Vaganova/ Kostrovitskaya) syllabus. Flexibility, increased vocabulary of steps and complex combinations are introduced in both ballet and jazz classes.

In all dance companies students receive a well- rounded dance education through the inclusion of acting, lyrical, leaps and turns, music, and jazz dance with the opportunity to take additional classes in hip-hop, aerial, tap, and musical theater classes.

Performance experience is an integral part of our student’s training. Performance opportunities are available to students in Preparatory and Pre-Professional levels.
Starr Dancers perform in at The BBT’s annual gala, “The Nutcracker” at Raue Center for the Arts, Berkshire Ballet Theatre’s March performance, June Concert, and community events.

The Starr Dance Company provides young dancers a disciplined and fun environment to explore the joys of classical dance.
